Weststar Books is an independent publisher based in Dublin, Ireland. This notice explains what personal data we collect through weststarbooks.com, why we use it, and the choices and rights available to you.

Who controls your data

Weststar Books is the data controller for personal data described in this notice. Privacy enquiries can be sent to contact@weststarbooks.com.

Optional newsletter and free research files

The Book Two research files and complimentary sample chapter are freely available without providing an email address. If you choose to join the Weststar Books mailing list, we collect the email address you provide to send research notes and Weststar Books updates. Joining the list is voluntary and is not required to download any research files. The legal basis for processing your mailing-list information is your consent.

We use a double opt-in process. You can withdraw consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email or by contacting us. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before withdrawal.

MailerLite

Our mailing list and subscription confirmations are provided using MailerLite. MailerLite processes subscriber information on our behalf in order to operate the mailing list. Where personal data is transferred internationally, the service provider's applicable contractual and legal safeguards apply.

Website analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the website. Google Analytics is not loaded by this website unless you choose Accept analytics. If you decline, the Google Analytics tag is not loaded by our site. You can change your choice at any time using Privacy choices at the bottom of the screen.

We also use Cloudflare to host, secure and deliver the website. Cloudflare Web Analytics may provide aggregate website and performance information. Cloudflare describes Web Analytics as cookie-free and says it does not collect or use visitors' personal data.

Cookies and local storage

Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies after you consent to analytics. We also store your analytics consent choice in your browser's local storage so that the site can remember your preference. This preference storage is used only to remember the choice you made.

How long we keep information

Newsletter information is kept while you remain subscribed or for as long as reasonably necessary to administer the mailing list and meet legal or compliance obligations. If you unsubscribe, limited information may be retained where necessary to ensure that your opt-out is respected. Analytics information is retained according to the settings and retention controls applying to the relevant analytics service.

Who receives information

We do not sell your mailing-list information. Personal data may be processed by service providers used to operate the website and mailing list, including MailerLite, Google (where analytics consent is given), and Cloudflare for website delivery and security, subject to their respective roles and safeguards.

Your rights

Subject to applicable data-protection law, you may have rights to access your personal data, correct inaccurate data, request erasure or restriction, object to certain processing, receive certain data in portable form, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
